Organic Hemp Seed Oil

What does this mean?

Inci:  Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil

A very dry feeling oil that is easily absorbed into the skin. Has a good level of Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) making it excellent for problem skins.

Hemp Seed Oil is a dark, khaki to olive green, mobile oil with a nutty, earth, vegetal, slightly oily note that is quite pleasantly clean to smell. It is cold pressed from the seeds of the organic Cannabis plant.
This is 99.5% Organic Hemp Seed Oil and we have added 0.5% Vitamin E as a powerful antioxidant to keep the oil from oxidising. That Vitamin E has to be diluted in a little Sunflower Seed Oil to make it pourable.
  • Use 1% to 100%.
  • Oil soluble so cannot be used in water only products. It can be used in small amounts in water based gels that will hold it in suspension.
  • Not heat stable so cannot be used in Stage 1 (fat stage) when making creams and lotions. Best added to Stage 3 under 40°C. Best stored in the fridge.
When Hemp Seed Oil is blended with Jojoba Oil, it makes a great hair pack for weak, heat damaged or perm damaged hair. Massage it in and leave for an hour before gently shampooing out. It makes the hair more glossy and manageable.
Combine it with Hazelnut Oil and Squalane to rebalance an oily skin with large pores.
This is not an oil that can be used for cannabis related recreational use as it contains no THC. There are no hallucinogenic effects with this oil and therefore, no potential addiction problems. This is also not a CBD oil.

Skin Care
  • Hemp Seed Oil is a very dry oil with a slightly “rough” texture that sinks in easily into the skin and is an excellent emollient. It penetrates the skin and makes it softer and locks in moisture. It reduces large pores as well as being anti inflammatory. Use in products for acne prone skin as well as dehydrated and hormonal skin.
  • If used on sensitive skin or a baby’s skin, the slight roughness of the texture can be balanced by using very soft and smooth oils such as Kiwi Seed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil or Peach Kernel Oil.
  • Hemp Seed Oil is a great moisturiser for the skin and is rich in Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acid as well as Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) which is so useful for problem skin types.
  • It improves the sebum production on dry and dehydrated skin and improves the skin’s elasticity.
  • As it is so rich in Omega 6, it will moisturise the skin very well, restoring dry and dehydrated skin to become softer and more resilient. This helps to reverse the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s dry texture means the skin will not feel heavy or overloaded with oils. Heaver oils that are blended with it will also feel lighter and finer.
  • It helps problems associated with eczema prone and psoriasis prone skin types.
  • Hemp Seed Oil is excellent to use in anti aging serums as it has a rich and balanced essential fatty acid profile with Omega’s 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9. It sinks in very fast, leaving the skin feeling supple and not greasy. This makes it great to use in men’s grooming products as men tend to prefer drier feeling products. The anti aging serums would also make desirable after shave products as they sink in so fast.
  • In a massage blend, it helps to alleviate stiff muscles, improving the flexibility as well as easing joint pain.
Hair Care
  • A great conditioner for damaged and brittle hair. It protects the hair from further damage by heat appliances. It leaves no greasy or sticky residue. Use in hair oils, conditioners and hair packs.
  • Hemp Seed Oil moisturises the hair as well as the scalp so it reduces dandruff.
  • It softens the hair and stimulates the hair follicles to produce thicker, longer, and stronger hair.
  • It smooths the hair follicles making the hair shinier.

Traditional Aromatherapy Uses
Traditionally used by qualified aromatherapists in a hospice or long term hospital situation. Possibly the bleach or the laundry detergent used in such places can leave the skin of the patient very dry and uncomfortable in just a few days of being in bed. Hemp Seed Oil sinks in quickly with no greasy after feel and the rich combination of Omega 3 and Omega 6 with GLA is perfect for restoring the condition of dry skin.
Historical Information
Hemp has grown in the wild for many, many thousands of years and research shows that it has been cultivated for at least 10,000 years. It was a good source of food and an excellent source of fibre for rope making and clothing. As the need arose, it was processed to make paper and the flowering tops and seeds were used for medicinal purposes.
In the 1930’s Henry Ford designed a car whose body was made from hemp fibres and would be fueled by hemp. Political pressure, as ever, corrupted this visionary idea and it was lost in time. Following legislation, hemp was not cultivated in the USA for the next 60 years and it is Canada that is leading the way in industrial hemp production.

amazing stuff

I have combination skin prone to congestion and had been using Sunflower oil in oil cleansing, but this stuff beats it out the water. Skin has never been so smooth, soft and old scars are fading. Will be repurchasing!
