Gives softness, nourishment, protection and consistency to ointments, healing balms, lip balms, creams, body butters, massage bars and bath melts.

Cocoa Butter is edible fat pressed from the beans of the cocoa pod. It is very stable and contains natural antioxidants. It has a light chocolate aroma.

Cocoa butter is a good emollient that gives softness and nourishment to the skin. It softens the skin and slows down transepidermal water loss (TEWL) keeping the skin hydrated and also conditioned by promoting elasticity . It protects the skin from the elements and dryness.

 

It has traditionally been used to soothe dry and even damaged skin and regular use will help to prevent or diminish stretch marks.


It adds a thicker texture to creams and lotions.

Use 1%-100%.

It is heat tolerant and can be used in the fat stage (stage 1) of creams and lotions, ointments, healing balms, lip balms, body butters, hair care products, massage bars, soaps and bath melts

Everyday Hand Cream - makes 100 ml/g

Stage 1: (above 75°C)

10% Jojoba Oil

7% Tomato Seed  Oil

3% Cocoa Butter

10% Emulsifying Wax

Water Stage (above 75°C)

65% Boiling Spring Water

3% Glycerin

Stage 3: (below 40°C)

1% Preservative 12

0.5% Vitamin E

0.5% Essential Oils of your choice (10 drops)

100% Total

Method:

Heat stage 1 ingredients in a double boiler to above 75°C. Add the boiling water and glycerin to a larger stainless steel bow, and then add the stage 1 ingredients. Keep above 75°C on the double boiler whilst stirring continuously for 5 minutes.

Remove the bowl and cool down whilst still stirring. When the temperature is below 40°C, add the stage 3 ingredients and mix thoroughly. Jar and label.

 

Balm Base - makes 100 ml/g

Stage 1: (heat until melted in a double boiler)

5% Beeswax

5% Cocoa Butter

50% Thistle Oil

Stage 2: (cool down stage)

10% Squalane

27% Your choice of vegetable oils

3% Vitamin E

100% Total

Method:

Heat the stage 1 ingredients in a double boiler until just melted. Remove from heat and cool down in a pan of cold water. As it starts to go opaque at the edges, add the stage 2 ingredients and beat well until fully incorporated, Jar and label.
