Hi,
I was wondering about the allantoin and aloe vera powders, are these necessary? I’ve tried making this micellar water, and the powders tends to lie in the bottom of the bottle, it also looks very cloudy.
If they are necessary is there any liquid allantoin and aloe vera?

Thank you for your enquiry.
Please see the below response from our research and development team;
“We have used Preservative 12 in the recipe for Micellar Water as the Sugar Detergent it includes is not an ethoxylated detergent. Ethoxylated detergents such as Alpha Detergent render Preservative 12 ineffective even at the low usage rate needed for a micellar water.
We could have used Preservative Eco but this has an aroma that can be noticeable in a product that does not contain essential oils whereas Preservative 12 does not."

we have surfacant/detergent in this recipe. How come you are using preservative 12 and not preservative eco?

“When making a liquid shampoo anionic and cationic surfactants cannot be mixed as they will separate out however this is not a problem when making syndet shampoo bars and will not adversely affect the performance of the product.”

Please would you advise, is there any other ingredient that can be used as a substitute for the sugar detergent?

“Yes, any water based product needs to have a preservative added or it can easily get contaminated.”

Do you have to add the preservative to this recipe or can you make it without?

“The surfactant in that is gentle enough for you to leave the Micellar Water on the skin but if you wish to you can rinse it off.”

Do you need to rinse this product off with water after using it? Is the surfactant used in this recipe gentle enough to be left on the skin without further rinsing?

“You could leave them out if you wanted to, but the product would not be so beneficial.
Ideally, you would use a stick blender in Stage 1 to ensure they are well dissolved. You could try using a stick now you have made the product up, but be sure to keep the blender low, as the Sugar content may start to foam up."
