Here Comes our brand new Spring/Summer 2010 Newsletter

On the first page of our newsletter you can see that we have 21 new products! And, since at Aromantic we always work to promote natural and organic, you won’t be surprised to hear that 16 out of the 21 are organic! There are 6 vegetable oils, 2 active ingredients (including a new organic Antioxidant Powder), 1 new botanical C02 extract and 3 essential oils, etc. We also have new EcoCert approved cold processing Natural Surfactant and a Natural Fat Restorer. Due to many requests we also now sell a simple Emulsifying Wax that can be used in James Wong’s recipes as shown on BBC's "Grow Your Own Drugs" series.

To add to your knowledge base we have a number of articles and tips for you. For example, an article about pig fats in high street products, about pH in products and market reports about vegetable oils and essential oils. We also have an update on how to deal with laboratory testing of products, an update on Shea Butter plus in-depth articles on all of our new raw materials.

We also have 22 new recipes in the Spring/Summer 2010 Newsletter. There are 6 recipes for the new Emulsifying Wax (you can also use this Emulsifying Wax in the recipes from James Wong’s books), 10 recipes using the new exciting vegetable oils that we have, 2 recipes for the Cold Emulsifier where we in fact heat it, as well as 4 new recipes using our new Natural Surfactant and Natural Fat Restorer that have both been approved by EcoCert.

SIMPLE TO USE - AROMANTIC EMULSIFYING WAX

Tips:

1. You can make these creams without preservatives, but they will only keep for up to 1 week if kept in the fridge.
2. These creams can be made without using the antioxidant Vitamin E Oil (100%) and they will keep for 7-8 months at room temperature. Otherwise, they will keep for 1.5-2 years. Beware that diluted Vitamin E Oil is sold in the market; however, these recipes are based on using 100% concentrated Vitamin E Oil Simulated Natural from Aromantic.
3. The creams can be made without using Essential Oils and this will not affect the shelf life.
4. You can use your own kitchen equipment like a pyrex jug etc, but it is advisable to get a thermometer.

Simple Emulsifying Wax Recipes for Creams (makes 100ml/g)

Recipe for Dry Skin (makes 100ml/g)

Fat Stage (75-80°C)

• 7ml Macadamia Nut Oil
• 8ml Apricot Oil
• 4ml Thistle Oil
• 7g Emulsifying Wax (Aromantic’s)

Water Stage (75-80°C)

• 70ml Boiling Spring Water
• 3g/ml Glycerin

Third Stage (40-35°C)

• 0.6g/ml (12-15 drops) Preservative 12
• 0.5g/ml Vitamin E Oil Simulated Natural (100%)

Fourth Stage 30-25°C

• 0.5g/m (10-12 drops) Essential Oil

Recipe for Mature Skin (makes 100ml/g)

Fat Stage (75-80°C)

• 12ml Macadamia Nut Oil
• 4ml Thistle Oil
• 4ml Avocado Oil
• 7g Emulsifying Wax (Aromantic’s)

• 69ml Boiling Spring Water

Fat Stage (75-80°C)

• 67ml Boiling Spring Water
• 3g/ml Glycerin

• 0.5g/m (10-12 drops) Essential Oil

Recipe for Hand Cream (makes 100ml/g)

Fat Stage (75-80°C)

• 10ml Macadamia Nut Oil
• 3ml Thistle Oil
• 10ml Jojoba Oil
• 7g Emulsifying Wax (Aromantic’s)

Water Stage (75-80°C)

• 65ml Boiling Spring Water
• 3g/ml Glycerin

Third Stage (40-35°C)

• 0.6g/ml (12-15 drops) Preservative 12
• 0.5g/ml Vitamin E Oil Simulated Natural (100%)

Fourth Stage 30-25°C

• 0.5g/m (10-12 drops) Essential Oil
  

Method for making simple Creams using Emulsifying Wax:

Fat Stage

• Heat the Fat Stage ingredients in a double boiler until all of the ingredients have melted and the temperature has risen to 75 - 80°C. There is no need to use a whisk at this stage.

Water Stage

• After boiling the Spring Water in a Kettle, measure it according to the Recipe and pour it over the Moisturiser, which you have put into a separate double boiler. Then allow the mixture to heat to 75 - 80°C.
• When both Fat and Water Stages are over 75°C, remove both double boilers from the hob, keeping the Water Stage mixture hot by leaving it on the top half of the double boiler.
• Now pour the melted Water Stage into the Fat Stage in a thin, steady stream, while continuously whisking the mixture from side to side for 5 minutes.
• Allow the mixture to cool, stirring all the time. You can speed up the cooling process by replacing the hot water in the double boiler with very COLD water. In the process of cooling down, the mixture becomes a Cream and will reach its thickest consistency when it is has cooled down to room temperature.

Third Stage

• Stir in the Third Stage ingredients when the mixture has cooled to under 40°C.

Fourth Stage

• Continue stirring until the mixture has cooled to under 30°C
• Then thoroughly mix in the Essential Oils.
• Pour the Cream into one big jar or smaller jars and label.
• Pamper yourself, your family and your friends.

Tips

1. If you feel that the cream is too thick then add cold spring water a little bit at a time until you get the right consistency.
2. You can also make a body lotion out of the creams by adding cold spring water little by little until you get the lotion consistency you like, but then you need to add 1 drop of Preservative 12 for each 10ml of water you add.

KOLBJORN WINS PRESTIGIOUS U.K. AWARD!

Who are Organic Farmers & Growers Ltd?

Organic Farmers & Growers Ltd (OF&G) is one of a number of control bodies accredited by Defra and is approved to inspect organic production and processing in the UK.

OF&G has its national headquarters in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, and operates across Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as well as the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

As a leader in organic certification for well over a decade, Organic Farmers & Growers has turned its expertise in organic inspection and licensing to this sector and has developed its Cosmetic and Bodycare Standard.

This standard is based on the EU Organic Regulation (EC2092/91) and the Nordic Ecolabelling Standards.

What Aromantic's organic status means to you

You can be confident that the organic raw materials you purchase from Aromantic are indeed organic. It is unfortunate that many raw materials used in the cosmetic and beauty industry are marketed as organic when in fact they are not. More and more consumers are demanding beauty products which are free from harmful chemicals and that have not been genetically modified and Aromantic fully supports this. Aromantic is committed to purchasing organic raw materials wherever possible.

Under EU rules you can call your health and beauty products organic if the product contains organic ingredients. This does not mean that your products are "certified" as organic because your company has to go through the certification process because this process is also about your production methods, packing, distribution, etc and not just about the ingredients.

If your company decides to go through the process of certification, then the main advantage of Aromantic being certified organic is that you can be absolutely sure that you are getting truly organic products and if you go for certification yourself, then you will have Aromantic's organic certificate to prove that the ingredients you are using are really organic.

Another advantage to you is that you will be now using certified organic ingredients and can show Aromantic's certificate to prove it.

NEW SECURE PAYMENT OPTION

After completing your order you will be directed to the secure WorldPay payment page where your card transaction is processed. You will then receive a payment notification email from WorldPay as well as a separate order invoice sent from Aromantic. Through WorldPay we accept the following card types - MasterCard (Debit and Credit card), VISA (Credit, Debit and Electron), Maestro, JCB and Solo and we’ll soon accept American Express.

If you wish to adjust your order or claim a refund, in part or in full, we are able to charge-back your payment.

Customers wishing to add to orders already placed

Up until now we have always been able to add to orders after they’ve been placed as we didn’t charge your credit/debit card until a few days after you had placed the order. Now that your debit/credit card is charged instantly, whether placing your order on the website or by telephone, if you want to change your order, this means that we will be charged by WorldPay for cancelling payment. So we ask that you consider your orders a bit more carefully and if you have to amend your order, please call us on +44 (0)1309 696900 during office hours (9am-5pm GMT+1) because that way we can take the ‘new’ order from you, but manually remove the postage & packaging charges from the new order (which consists of the extra items you want to order), that would automatically appear and then be charged to you on our website.
