Mikrocount Combi Test Kit
A simple test tube to monitor your products (creams, lotions, gels, shampoos etc) in-house for bacterial, yeast and mould growth on an ongoing basis. It is very easy to use so no microbiological training is necessary in order to interpret the results. You may want to check that your product is still up to standard, prove that your preservative is still working, or you might simply want to raise the standards of your production methods.
Preservative Challenge Testing or PET
Note that any products containing water and therefore a preservative, will need to have an official challenge test carried out before putting the product on the market in order to show that the preservative is efficient at protecting your product. This need be carried out only once. It is also referred to as a PET or a Preservative Efficacy Test. You can have this done by Oxford Biosciences or by Microbiological Consultant Services and you will need to send them a sample of your product for testing. The results can take some time to come back. There are others too that can do this for you and you can find contact details online. Products that do not contain water and therefore no preservative, will not require a preservative challenge test.
Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR)
A challenge test must not be confused with safety testing. EVERY cosmetic product on the market must have a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) carried out by a qualified safety assessor prior to putting the product on the market. This is done only once and you don't need to send your product to have a CPSR prepared as it is based on the recipe and not the finished product.

Safe - incubated samples are evaluated in sealed tubes which risks of contamination are avoided
Every Mickocount Combi sent out will be accompanied by a colour brochure with full instructions and colour illustrations to help you determine the total bacterial, yeast and fungi counts.

Be aware that the Mikrocount® Combi tube comes to us with a maximum shelf life of 4-5 months. The expiration date is marked on the tube.
The tubes should be stored unopened at room temperature (about + 20 °C) and protected from draught and light. The slides must not be allowed to freeze.
