An Alpine Extract that reduces pore size and reduces sebum production in oily skin. Effective with sensitive skins as well. It has excellent Eco credentials.

It is a clear, to slightly opalescent, amber to brown colored, slightly viscous liquid with a characteristic odour. It is extracted from a rare Swiss Alpine plant called Epilobium Fleischeri which is cultivated at an elevation of over 1000 metres in the Swiss mountains. This Willowherb plant is rich in both flavonoids and Oenothein B which are key compounds for sebum regulation and anti-inflammatory activities.

Glycerin, Aqua, Epilobium Fleischeri Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate

Skin Care
Excellent for oily skin products as it reduces the size of pores and regulates the sebum production.

It is non comedogenic and gives a very quick and visible improvement in the appearance of the skin.

Effective for sensitive skin types.

Add to toners and facial spritzes with calming flowers waters.

Use in gels for pre moisturising. Combine in creams lotions.

Use in water based gel serums for oil free formulations to combat T zone oiliness.

Hair Care
As it regulates sebum production, this is ideal for use in conditioners and masks for oily hair and scalps.

Other
Recommended addition level 1-3%.

It is water soluble can cannot be used in oil only products.

Heat sensitive so use at at under 40°C or in stage 3 (cool down phase) when making creams and lotions.

Suggested Blends
Use in creams or lotions with Geranium which also helps to regulate sebum production.

With Chamomile and Lavender Flower Waters for sensitive skin toners.

Use in a cream or lotion with Rosehip Oil which also helps to reduce pore size.

Blend with high GLA oils like Evening Primrose and Borage to allow oily skin to behave more like normal skin.

Combine with Anti Acne Active Formula in products for acne prone skin.

Historical Information
Herbal extracts have been used for centuries as simple, but effective ways of addressing different skin problems. Often, the chemistry was not known or understood of what the action was but Swiss clinics were leaders in the field of using Alpine plants for this purpose.
Oily Scalp Shampoo
Stage 1: (room temperature)
20% Natural Surfactant
2% Natural Fat Restorer

Stage 2: (above 75°C)
71% Boiled Spring Water
2% EmulsiGel Eco

Stage 3: (below 40°C)
3% Epidermis and Sebum Rebalancer
1% Preservative Eco
1% Essential oils of your choice
100% Total

Method:

Mix stage 1 ingredients together and they start to thicken up a little.

Sprinkle the EmulsiGel Eco over the hot water and stick blend until thickened.

Add stage 2 to stage 1 and stick blend briefly to combine.

Cool down in a pan of cold water whilst stirring with a spatula.

Add stage 3 ingredients and stir. Bottle and label.


Anti Acne Cream
Stage 1: (above 75°C)
13% White Poppy Seed Oil
7% Hazelnut Oil
5% BioGreen Emulsifier

Stage 2: (above 75°C)
71% Boiling Spring Water

Stage 3: (below 40°C)
2% Epidermis and Sebum Rebalancer
1% Preservative 12
0.5% Geranium Essential Oil
0.5% Plai Essential Oil
100% Total

Method:

Put stage 1 ingredients into a small bowl in a bain marie. When they are above 75°C, weigh boiling spring water into a larger bowl and put onto the bain marie.

Pour the fat stage into the water stage and start to stick blend. After a minute or so, look at the cowl of the stick blender (covers the blade) and see what the mix looks like. If it is granular and separating, stick blend a little longer.

When the cream looks smooth and like a runny single cream, stop stick blending and take it off the heat.

Cool down in a pan of cold water and stir with a spatula.

When it is under 40°C, add the preservative and mix thoroughly. Put into jars and label.
