The individual materials that make up Witch Hazel Glycerol Extract are listed on the Cosmetic Ingredient Database (Cosing) here

Skin Care
Most commonly thought of as an astringent, it is excellent for oily and combination skin as the Glycerine content helps to keep the skin moisturised. Use in products for acne prone skin and problem skin.
Its natural antibacterial properties make it a good choice to use in deodorants where it helps to slow down the development of the bacteria that make sweat smell.
Very refreshing to use in aftershave toners and spritzes for its bracing effect on the skin as well as helping to heal minor nicks and cuts.
Effective in cleansers for all skin types as it is cooling and soothing.
Hair Care
No specific hair care use but it will tone a greasy scalp with its astringency.
Use at 3% to 6%.
It is safe to use at higher amounts but there is a possibility that the end product may feel a little sticky.
Water soluble so cannot be used in oil only blends.
Already contains glycerin so there is no need to add any more.
Once opened do not leave the cap off the bottle whilst you are working and after use, squeeze some of the air out of the bottle to reduce potential oxidation and seal tightly.
Store in a cool, dry place.
Protect from freezing and direct sunlight

As it is often used in oily skin creams and lotions, combine with low freezing point oils like Hazelnut Oil to help oily skin behave more like normal skin.
