A very stable, liquid oil that has a much drier feel with less greasiness than Coconut Butter. It is solid coconut oil that has been steam treated to remove the unstable fatty acid chains that cause rancidity and greasiness making it much more elegant and usable.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

 
 
A clear, odourless, light oil made from the mixed tri-ester of Glycerin, Caprylic and Capric Acids from Cocus Nucifera (Coconut). It is liquid at room temperature.
 
Because it is much purer than the original solid oil, it feels dryer and much less greasy. It is very stable against oxidation as the unstable fatty acid chains have been removed. This is the type that we stock as we feel it is far superior and has much more functionality.
  • Use 1% to 100%.
  • Oil soluble so cannot be used in water only products. It can be used in small amounts in water based gels that will hold it in suspension.
  • Heat stable so can be used in Stage 1 (fat stage) when making creams and lotions.
Blend Liquid Coconut Oil with Argan Oil, Camellia Seed Oil with a little EcoSilk to make a light and sprayable hair conditioner which leaves the hair glossy and flexible. Excellent to use as a body spray as well!
Decades ago, the only way to get a pourable coconut oil was to melt the solid coconut oil. Different kinds of fats would separate out depending on their differing melting points. Sometimes a centrifuge was used to speed up the process but essentially, the harder fats were removed from the coconut oil and the solids could be used for other purposes, leaving a pourable oil.
 
The term “Liquid Fractionated” is still used even though it is nearly always a different process now. Most often, steam hydrolysis applied to the solid coconut fat and this separates the glycerol from the fatty acid chains. There are several different types of fatty acid chains and some of them are the ones that accelerate rancidity. Esterification then pulls back some of the fatty acid chains together to form a stable triglyceride which is much more stable against rancidity.

HOW TO USE IT

Skin Care
  • Liquid Coconut Oil produces an effective barrier on the skin to slow down TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss) which keeps the skin hydrated and flexible. It does not clog the pores at all. Excellent to use in hand creams, foot creams and sports products.
  • It is a superb emollient and softens the skin. It absorbs into the skin very easily and is light enough to spray though some spray nozzles. Due to its elegant texture, it is used in protective skin care products such as hand and foot creams or lotions, which protect the skin from the elements.
  • It has excellent stability and makes a great component of massage oils and creams, giving good traction for working in specific areas, especially when blended with other ingredients. It is much less likely to stain massage covers and towels than other oils are and washes out easier.
  • Liquid Coconut Oil is very effective to use as a base for oil based perfumes as it has no fragrance of its own, is very stable to oxidation and is fine enough to spray though some nozzles (check the size of the spray nozzle you have first).
  • Make a great bath oil by adding essential oils. This leaves the skin soft and well conditioned but be sure to clean out the bath afterwards so no one slips.

good massage oil

I have used this liquid coconut oil for many years in my massage practice and as an overal skin oil. I highly recommend it as it is light and not too sticky/greasy.

Light, silky oil

This oil has a lovely silky, light feel, which doesn't leave any residual oiliness on my skin. If it has a scent, its so subtle, it doesn't mess with any essential oil I mix it with. Its definitely one I'll buy again. The ordering process was straightforward, and delivery was prompt.
