30% off!

Best before date of beginning of January 2020. If you are viewing this page in our Hydrolates category and not on our Short Dated Deals page click here to read about why shorter dates don't mean the product isn't as good as new and they can be a great bargain!

A colourless to hint of orange hydrolat with a fresh, typically lavender aroma that is obtained by steam distillation of the flowering tops of the organic Lavandula Angustifolia plant.

There are so called flower waters available that are made by adding essential oils or an extract to water. These are not flower waters or hydrolats and are inferior to this genuine hydrolat which is produced by steam distillation.

This hydrolat has had no preservative added to its bottle so please take care to not contaminate it.

Skin Care
Refreshing and soothing on the skin. Use for all skin types, even sensitive skin. See notes below about not using it neat.

Use as part of a blend in facial cleansers and toners. It’s antibacterial and anti inflammatory qualities make it beneficial in acne prone skin products. It also helps to control excess sebum production.

It has a gentle astringency which is useful in anti aging products to firm the skin and smooth out fine lines. Use in creams, lotions, gels and serums.

Very calming to the mind and has a sedative effect to help with restful sleep.

Excellent to use in an oil burner to meditate with as it dispels negativity and enable deeper focus.

Lavender has a long reputation for healing burns and the flower water also helps to ease the pain of sunburn.

Hair Care
No direct hair care usage but will help to rebalance  an oily scalp if used in an hair conditioner.

Use 1% to 10%. It is very potent so we do not recommend using at a strength of more than 10% blended with other ingredients. Do not use it neat.

Water soluble so cannot be used in oil only products.

Heat stable so can be used in Stage 2 (water stage) when making creams and lotions.
Hydrosols are very prone to fungal contamination. Store them in the ‘fridge if you can and never leave the tops off the bottles whilst you are working.

Suggested Blends
Blend with other flower waters at the recommended dilutions for refreshing and tonifying facial mists.

Can be used as a room spray to deter flying insects and as an air freshener.

Can be added to your steam iron to freshen clothes as you press them.

Historical Information
The ancients used to wash linen at the river and throw the clothes over lavender bushes to keep them away from the mud whilst they were drying in the sun. As such, the lavender bush was synonymous with “lavare” to wash and clean.
