A glycerine extract of pomegranates, giving good polyphenol protection as well as a good humectant to keep the skin supple.

A pale amber coloured liquid made by using glycerine as a means of extracting the active components from pomegranates.
Pomegranate seeds that are extracted into glycerine by a proprietary process. This unique extraction process is qualified by the Soil Association and it results in a sparkling extract, which is not as sticky as pure glycerine extracts. It is sterilised by filtration so no preservative is necessary to keep the extract in its pure form.

Pomegranate contains ellagic acid which, together with other polyphenols, help to regulate cell turnover and give the cell time to divide normally and form completely.

Skin Care
Pomegranate Glycerol Extract is a good replacement for glycerine in skin products as it has the humectant effect needed but also a strong polyphenol action.

Add to after shave products like skin soothers and moisturisers as it strengthen the cell membranes and keeps moisture in the skin.

It can be used as a moisturiser in antioxidant creams and lotions.

Ellagic acid is also thought to strengthen the cell membrane, making it less susceptible to free radical damage and preventing water loss from the cell. This is ideal in night creams and anti aging serums.

Combine with hydrolates to make facial toners and spritzes for targeting specific areas or for general moisturisation.

Hair Care
Strengthening the cell membranes will help the hair follicles to work the best they can. Add to shampoos and hair conditioners.

Other
Use at 3% to 6%.

Water soluble so cannot be used in oil only products.

Suggested Blends
Add to Flower Waters to make toners and facial spritzes.

Cautions/Contraindications
None.
Historical Information
Almost every major culture in the last 8,000 years has valued the pomegranate. Whether it be for ceremonial and ritual use or for food or cosmetic use, it has been used extensively.

Of course, it is only recently that “modern science” caught on to centuries of knowledge.

In 1964, the first research studies were done on pomegranates and it was 20 years later for the second study. To date, there are over 400 scientific studies that generally agree on the benefits of pomegranate.
