An excellent body wash and shampoo base that can be adapted to your own needs. This is not the same as the old Base Body Wash as this is no longer available due to the manufacturer having ceased trading.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A Cosmos approved, Organic Body Wash that is gentle to the skin and can also be used as a shampoo.

It is a clear, colourless to pale yellow viscous liquid that has a very slight odour. It is derived from organic Coconut and Sunflower oils. It does not contain any palm oil but it does include palm oil derivatives.

Aromantic’s Body Wash Base (Cosmos Organic) is a blend of a true liquid soap and mild surfactant. This combination of ingredients creates a gently cleansing body wash with a creamy lather that can easily be adapted to suit your needs with the addition of essential oils or Active Ingredients.

This Body Wash Base (Cosmos Organic) allows for the production of certified COSMOS body wash / shower gel IF the manufacturer has organic certification.

Any additions would also need to be certified organic and approved for use in COSMOS approved products. Please check your choice of added ingredients with the relevant regulatory bodies BEFORE getting the product assessed to make sure they are approved.

It has not been tested on animals, is free from animal derived ingredients, is GMO, Sulfate and SLS/SLES free.

It is suitable for Vegan products.

pH of neat Body Wash Base: pH 9.5-10.5

Cosmos and Organic approved and is manufactured in the UK so has a low carbon footprint.

The individual materials that make up Body Wash/Shampoo Base are listed on the Cosmetic Ingredient Database (Cosing) here.

HOW TO USE IT

It can be thickened with the addition of a warm 20% salt solution (using salt that does not include anti caking agents) and can be further thickened by adding more of the salt solution in small amounts until the required viscosity is achieved, very useful if you want to make a shower gel rather than a body wash type of product.

Some essential oils can cause the product to become thicker or thinner so you will need to test your chosen essential oil(s) to see what effect they have. If the product has become thinner due to the essential oil it may not be able to be thickened with the addition of a salt solution. Essential oils may also turn the product cloudy, as may some Active Ingredients. If this is the case you may wish to consider packaging in opaque containers.

Please note that if you use regular tap water this is likely to turn your product cloudy so softened or deionised water is recommended.

Thickening the Base Body Wash may make it more difficult to fill so gently heat it to between 15-35°C before filling as this will help its fluidity.

Skin Care
Add up to 2% essential oils to 98% Base Body Wash for a personalised Body Wash / Shower Gel or Shampoo.

Add slowly and stir in well then leave for 24 hours to allow the essential oil(s) to fully dissolve into the base product.

Try small amounts at first because the combination of essential oils can affect the viscosity of the Base Body Wash differently.

For example, the citrus oils like Blood Orange and Lemon will make the product a little runnier. Keep a note of which blends are your favourites.
You can create a great exfoliating Body Scrub by adding 5% Apricot Kernel Powder to 95% Base Body Wash or use 5% Jojoba Exfoliating Grains for a gentle facial scrub.

Hair Care

Add 3% Jojoba oil + 1% essential oils to 96% Base Body Wash for a gentle conditioning shampoo. Stir well to combine fully.

Or you could try adding the same amount of Argan oil, Broccoli Seed oil, Camellia Seed oil or EcoSilk.

As different oils may change the texture slightly remember to keep notes so that you can replicate your favourite blend.

Add 5% Phytokeratin to 95% Base Body Wash to make a thickening shampoo.

Other
Use 1% to 100%.

The Body Wash Base consists of a traditional liquid soap blended with surfactants. The soap gives the product a pH of 9.5-10.5. If you add acidic ingredients that lower the pH this will reverse the soap reaction causing the base to become unstable therefore we do not recommend adding ingredients that will lower the pH.

If you add any water soluble ingredients you will need to get your product challenge tested before placing it on sale.

I recommend this product

Body Wash base

This product is so versatile. I use it as a body wash and as a shampoo. I add natural surfactant to it to give it more foam. I experiment with various essential oils and hope to give some away as gifts for Chris.tmas
