Thank you for your enquiry.

“The Night Serum formulation that you have linked to cannot be changed in the way you are suggesting. EmulsiGel Eco cannot handle that much fat load. As we don’t stock Lecithin, we can’t give any advice on how to use it successfully at all, sorry.”

Hi, Thanks for the really helpful information. I’m trying to mix your pseudo collagen at 2% into an oil mix of 97% and so would I be right in thinking to add the lecithin at 1% to the collagen at 2%, heat up and use a stick blender, then add this into the oil phase with the oils heated, mix until blended. Leave to cool.

Thank you for your enquiry.

“The Night Serum recipe uses EmulsiGel Eco to create an emulsified product with a light creamy serum feel. The amount included in stage 3 is balanced so that it brings great benefits without causing stability problems for the emulsion that has been created.
Unfortunately adding more than 10% ingredients in stage 3 to an Emulsigel Eco emulsion will cause stability problems. If you add 30% of any sort of ingredients to stage 3 it will break the emulsion whether they can be used directly on the face or not.

2% EmulsiGel Eco can emulsify up to 10% oils that are added in stage 2, this is the manufacturers recommendation and we have tested different amounts to see what results are given. It may be possible to slightly increase the amount of EmulsiGel Eco and therefore the amount of oils you could include in a product but that would then affect the feel of the product which may not be desirable. It will not be able to handle 30% oil soluble, cold pressed plant extracts in any stage.
If the plant extracts are water soluble and heat tolerant you could replace some of the water with them however some plant extracts may adversely affect the stability of the emulsion due to a high mineral content."

Hello
thank you for a great recipe. I want to add 30% cold pressed plant extracts in phase 3. (they won’t be too strong as they are able to be used directly onto the face). Will this recipe still work if i just reduce the phase 1 liquid by the required amount to still keep the 100%? Also will the finished serum come out of a serum airless pump? thank you in advance.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Please see the below response from our Research and Development
Team;

“The ingredients that are included in Stage 3 of the Night Serum recipe are integral components that are highly effective, and, in the case of the preservative are essential ingredients.
You could exchange the Eco Marine Algae Extract and Vitamin E for other Active Ingredients if you wished to but keep the percentages the same so that the recipe totals 100%.
If you remove these ingredients entirely your serum will be less effective. You will need to replace the missing 4% which we advise you to add to the water.”
