Description

Refined. Seeds produced by small scale indigenous farmers in the Ukambani region of Kenya, but pressed in the UK. The oil has a slight orange colour. The oil is extracted from the seed of the papaya fruit (also known as paw paw) and is rich in the omega 9 essential fatty acid. As it’s oleic acid levels are similar to olive oil, papaya seed oil is an exceptionally stable oil, with a shelf life of 2-3 years.

Skin Care

Historically, Indian healers have made pastes from crushed papaya seeds to treat rashes and other skin problems.

The papaya seed oil has high quantities of oleic acid, up to 74% and generally its fatty acid composition is very close to that of olive oil. Papaya seed, and therefore the oil, is: anti-inflammatory; analgesic (pain-relieving); and also helps to treat fungal infections. This makes papaya seed oil a good addition to products that treat: eczema; psoriasis; and fungal infections such as athlete’s foot, etc.

Other benefits and qualities of papaya seed oil are: it could also be added as a rich moisturising and antifungal oil to foot creams; just like olive oil, papaya seed oil has an occlusive quality, which has a nourishing, moisturising and water-retaining effect by stopping transepidermal water loss (TWL); as it is a soft and smooth oil (emollient), regular use makes the skin soft and supple;  is a ‘long’ oil, making it an excellent massage oil for long strokes; it good oil for treating rashes and minor skin problems; and it would make a good skin moisturising and conditioning bath oil blend by mixing 5-10% of papaya seed oil with turkey red bath oil.

30ml Thistle Oil
30ml Jojoba Oil
9g Coconut Butter, aroma-retained (melt before adding to blend)
0.5ml/g Vitamin E Oil (undiluted)
10-12 drops Essential Oils or 1-2ml Coconut Aroma (Organic)

A nourishing, softening and protective foot oil that can be used regularly or when needed.

40ml Papaya Seed Oil
15ml Calendula Oil
30ml Jojoba Oil
12g Coconut Butter, aroma-retained (melt before adding to blend)
2ml/g Vitamin E Oil (undiluted)
15-20 drops Essential Oils or 1-2ml Coconut Aroma (Organic)
