Castile soap is a name used in English-speaking countries for soap made with olive oil originating from the Castile region of Spain.
Castile soap is made completely from vegetable oil instead of animal fats or synthetic substances. It is not a brand name or trademark but it is from the Castile region of Spain.
NB! Traditionally Olive Oil was used but due to the higher cost of organic Olive Oil we are now using Sunflower Oil and Coconut Oil.
Due to the straight forward nature of the soap, it means it is more environmentally friendly as there is less waste produced when making it and it is more bio-degradable than other soaps.
What is Aromantic’s Organic Castile Soap?
Aromantic’s Organic Castile Soap base has been certified as organic. Organic certification ensures the integrity of the products in relation to the environmental impact of their farming and the long-term sustainability of the crops. No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are permitted in the growing of the crop. The same stringent controls apply in the extraction and refining of the oils from the crop for example no bleaching or chemical distillation is permitted.
Organic Castile Soap contains the natural glycerine from the organic oils, something that is often chemically removed as part of the refining and distillation process.
