This is a one day course with Jacqui James and Mike Harmon. The Aromantic Legal Requirements Course will help you understand what you need to know about EU cosmetics legislation and how it applies to you and your products, it will cover everything from formulating your recipes right through to selling your products to the public.
Overview
Please note that our terms and conditions have been changed, you will be asked to read them during the checkout process. Or you can download the Course Policy document in PDF format. You can find it in the Aromantic Natural Skin Care Library under 'UK Courses'. Starting a new cosmetics business can be exciting and rewarding but all too often people dont know where to go to find answers to their legal questions and are frightened off by wordy and technical legislative documents. This course will untangle all the jargon and deliver the information you need in a way that is easy to understand. As well as going over background to the cosmetics legislation, legal requirements, procedures, documentation, and labelling etc., we will answer frequently asked questions such as: what do I need to have in place to run a cosmetics business; do I need to be trained; how much insurance will I need and how much will it cost; do my products have to be tested; and much more. We will also discuss what if scenarios (as in when something goes wrong) as these are questions that are often asked but rarely answered.
Who this course will benefit
This course will benefit those who are thinking about starting their own cosmetic business but are worried about the legal aspects of doing so, and also anyone who is already making and selling products to the public but wants reassurance they are complying with EU cosmetics legislation.
About Jacqui James
Jacqui offers organisations writing, administrative, research and translation services on a local, national and international level. She has been helping Aromantic and our customers with legal and product safety issues since 1999 and her efforts were largely responsible for us receiving and maintaining our organic certification from Organic Farmers and Growers. Her long association with Aromantic, coupled with the fact that she deals with our customer queries constantly, means that she understands our customers needs as well the maze of legal requirements that need to be in place before selling natural cosmetics to the public. She is a clear thinker and communicator and, in at the heart of all she does, is the desire to help others.
About Mike Harmon
Many of you will already know my friend and colleague Mike Harmon as he has been teaching our courses now for about three years. He has also been teaching the Aromantic courses at colleges around the country for over 10 years. His training started with Elementary Aromatherapy that led on to Clinical Aromatherapy which was a total of 8 years training. Add 2 years Reflexology and another 2 years of Iridology, Mike then started work at the Middlesex Hospital. He added several other modalities to become a Naturopath and as is so often the way, you find yourself back with your first love aromatherapy. Mike has always seen Aromantics creams and gels as the new era of aromatherapy. For too long, the art was perceived by many as applicable to massage only. Mike has old school training that not only takes on board the chemical make up of the oils but also the esoteric aspects.
