Description

Cold pressed. Organic. Used for Skin Care and GLA source (especially for face and body oil blends). Aromantic has added 0.5% Vitamin E Oil to the Oil to increase the shelf life from 6 months to 2 years.

Skin Care

Has an exceptionally high content of Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA) - a minimum of 20% - a well-researched substance the body needs to create prostaglandins. The skin needs prostaglandins and deficiencies will cause dryness, loss of suppleness and wrinkling. The skin will age more quickly and be less tolerant to sunlight and any damage to the skin will take longer to heal. A good source of Omega 6 fatty acids. A dry, thin oil that is absorbed quickly by the skin.

In the kitchen

Due to its high quantity of GLA, borage oil should never be heated over 40°C/104°F. Use if you want to get a GLA boost, add it to your dressings. (Instead of using GLA capsules, simply add 2ml of borage oil in a teaspoon and take with your food everyday or add approximately 20ml of the borage oil to 80ml of sunflower and other oils to make a dressing for salads or vegetables. This is a good and cheaper alternative to paying for expensive capsules

Caution

Borage Oil should not be taken internally by pregnant women, nursing mothers or by people with seizure disorders and haemophilia.

Tips for using Borage Oil

My practical work over the last 20 years has shown me that it is necessary to add at least 5% Borage Oil to an oil blend or cream, otherwise it is not effective at all.

Due to the naturally ‘mouldy’ smell of borage oil, it is a good idea to mix it with base note essential oils such as benzoin, patchouli, sandalwood or cedarwood.

Apply to hair, leave in for 1 hour, apply shampoo first, then rinse out with water.

30ml Borage Oil
20ml Jojoba Oil
21ml Calendula Oil 
20ml Thistle Oil
5ml/g Vitamin E Oil (undiluted)
1ml/g Vitamin A Palmitate
5 drops Rosemary CO2 Extract
1.5ml (37 drops) Tea Tree Essential Oil
10 drops Lavender Essential Oil
10 drops Fragonia Essential Oil
