A One-Day course with Kolbjørn Borseth Overview: This advanced course combines theory and practice and focuses upon tackling the skin condition psoriasis as well as how to make a treatment for cellulite. Students also learn about and have the opportunity to make their own deodorants and foot products. This course will benefit therapists who want to optimise the healing properties in their base products and tailor-make their products to suit their clients. It will also benefit those who wish to make the products for their own use. Course Contents: The day begins with an overview of the different ways to cure or help clients with psoriasis. Based upon Kolbjørn's work with Lily Johansen in Sweden, he will guide students through the different aspects that form an holistic approach to help psoriasis sufferers. The discussion covers the acid/alkaline diet that was very successful at the complimentary hospital in Sweden for those suffering with psoriasis. Students receive the full table of which food item is acid or alkaline as well as recipe brochures for making alkaline dishes. This session also covers the different treatments such as fasting, herbal baths, herbal teas, tea-tree treatments, mineral treatments on the skin, compresses and creams. Kolbjørn will also demonstrate using a compress on one of the students. NOTE: Before learning how to make a product Kolbjørn will discuss the benefits of the product and demonstrate the exact utensils and raw materials required. ALL raw materials and utensils are provided and students usually work in groups of 4 per table. A printed hand-out of the recipe and technique is also given to each student at the beginning of every demonstration. This enables the student to focus upon the 'hands-on' aspect of the session and ensures that each participant leaves with a complete set of notes and recipes for future reference. After a break Kolbjørn will demonstrate how to make two types of psoriasis creams (one with herbs). Students will then make the creams and receive a full recipe description and method for making over 30 preparations for baths, compresses etc. After lunch students have the opportunity to make foot creams and can start to experiment with using colours in the cream. To accompany this practical session students are given a special recipe brochure for foot products including foot creams, gels and foot baths. In the final practical session of the day participants make deodorants using natural raw materials followed by a cellulite gel which is combined with various raw materials to create different treatments. Students receive a recipe brochure for creams, baths, a list of different raw materials for cellulite and a recipe brochure suggesting many kinds of raw materials for deodorants plus other recipes. The day is completed with a Questions & Answers session.
